Editing & Copy Editing

Editing

These are some of the works I have edited or copy edited. I have edited a lot more than the ones presented here; these are my strongest pieces.

For the Spanish articles, I have edited most of the articles in La Cronica's section, so it was a bit difficult choosing which ones to highlight. For this, I chose the ones I am most proud of editing in terms of how happy the reporter and I were with the final product.

I fell in love with editing fairly quickly. Being asked to help improve a story is so incredibly invigorating that I find it hard to explain.

I hope I can continue editing stories in English and Spanish until the end of my days.

Copy Editing

I feel like I've copy edited countless articles.

When I was in high school, I didn't take this skill very seriously--though I did love grammar and I was quite good at it, actually! However, during my first year of college, I realized something: if I wanted to be a writer, I needed to take copy editing seriously. Above all, I needed to respect it.

Fun fact: In elementary school, I took it upon myself to finish my entire English workbook, cover to cover. I don't know why I did this, but I'm really glad I did because I learned so much from it. The skills I learned are still ones I use to this day, and ones I continue to refine as I get older.

Copy editing is a great skill to have. I'm lucky enough to be able to say that it is one I possess.
